Four states in one day

Our first weigh station. We passed.
We hit the road early this morning to try to make up for the lost day yesterday. We clocked almost 12 hours and more than 500 miles and ended the day in Wisconsin!

We are both feeling more competent driving the truck. Today was much less terrifying. :-)

I had no idea there were so many wind turbines in the midwest. Thousands of them dot the landscape. There is something very beautiful about them, slowly spinning in the wind. It's almost hypnotizing.

Party on Wayne. Party on Garth.
Aurora, Illinois.

I've never seen so many wind turbines.

Setting up at the Cracker Barrel.
And tonight we are trying another new experience called boondocking. That's what you call it when you park free in a packing lot or city park. You are on your own... no electricity or water, just what you have in your rig. We can be fairly self contained for short stays. We don't have a generator but can run lights and the water pump off the battery; and the fridge (and heat if we needed it) runs off propane. No ac or outlets, so are more limited. But for a spot to sleep for the night, it's not bad.

We found a cracker barrell in Janesville, Wisconsin, that allows overnight rv parking so we are tucked in for the night in the land of cheese.
Always helpful Kate.
