Climbers are there somewhere. |
We finally got off 90 and onto the road in West Yellowstone. Wow! What a difference. It was absolutely stunning scenery. We drove through the valley alongside the Gallatin River, with huge mountains, looming on both sides. It was so scenic, and almost too overwhelming to really take in.
We pulled over on one of the pull-outs and had a quick lunch and watched two guys climbing a huge rock face across the road and river.
We finally pulled into West Yellowstone around 4:00 and found our way to the Grizzly RV Park. This place is like the Disney World of RV Parks. Even the ladies working at the registration desk have the name tags that include their home state. LOL. It's got to be the cleanest, neatest RV park. It's also right on the edge of town so we can walk into town to shop, visit the museums, and attractions, and get food. The downtown is really cute, with a lot of nice little shops and restaurants.
We rode our bikes into town and got our park pass and maps to figure out where we want to go. There is so much to see and do here. We want to do some biking and hiking, along with some of the attractions. Jim bought some bear spray, just in case. Yikes. And I signed the kids up for the Yellowstone Junior Ranger badge.
Our spot at Grizzly RV Park. Very nice. |
After dinner, we went back to town for some ice cream and are now tucked in for the night. Tomorrow we will hit the park and start seeing the sights. We are here for four nights, then we are going to another RV park in the area, but outside of town. It's on Hegben Lake and has boating and swimming, away from town and closer to nature.
